Kellen Tynes, the Young Gun representing the 902, pulls up on Canada Hoops! Kellen sits down with your boy Matty to share his basketball story thus far. Kellen lets us know about his summer having recently represented Canada Basketball at the 2023 GLOBLJAM; and now getting some training under way for his 2023-2024 season at Maine.
Kellen tells Matty about growing up in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, loving basketball at an early age. Kellen also played some baseball and football. Kellen talks about who he looked up to on the basketball court an early age.
Kellen was a standout at Rothesay Netherwood School (RNS) playing in the NPA and Kellen reflects on his time at RNS; a place where Kellen started to really elevate his game. Summers for Kellen meant playing AAU for the Northern Kings and provincial teams for Basketball Nova Scotia and Kellen tells us what playing for those teams meant to him.
Kellen talks about his college recruitment and what led him to attend and play basketball at Montana State. Kellen eventually transferred to Maine where he is currently playing. Kellen tells Matty what his personal and team goals are for the season at Maine.
And you know we talk Canada Basketball! Kellen tells Matty what playing for Canada Basketball means to him. Kellen reflects on his Canada Basketball teammates and his friendships with them; and playing under Head Coach Nathaniel Mitchell. Kellen tells us how he'd love to play for the SMNT for Canada Basketball one day as well. And Kellen drops his great Top 5 of all time for Canada Basketball on us; paying respect to some fellow Nova Scotians.
