Matty Ireland

Michelle Plouffe, the #1 Womens FIBA 3X3 player, 2 time Olympian and SWNT Alumni for Canada Basketball, pulls up on Canada Hoops! Michelle sits down with your boy Matty to share her basketball story thus far. Michelle tells us how she is doing as she goes through her rehab and training after suffering an ACL injury right at the end of the FIBA 3X3 season; letting us know that she will be ready to go for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics! Michelle tells Matty about growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, playing basketball alongside her twin sister Katherine, another Canada Hoops guest. Michelle talks about her role model and older sister Andrea who helped show Michelle what playing basketball at a high level looked like right from within the Plouffe family. Michelle tells Matty about her time at Harry Ainlay High School, NEDA and starting to get recruitment to play NCAA Division 1 basketball. Michelle talks about her decision to attend the University of Utah; where she would have a tremendous career as a Ute. Michelle shares her memories from her time at Utah and why her time with the SWNT during her career at Utah really helped elevate her game and perspective. Michelle talks about going pro, getting drafted into the WNBA by the Seattle Storm and her camp experience in Seattle before heading overseas. Michelle started playing pro in France before finishing in Greece; and shares a wild story from her time in Greece!
With a long career with Canada Basketball on the SWNT, 2 Olympics and now the success of the FIBA 3X3 team Michelle tells us what playing for Canada has meant to her throughout her career. Michelle talks about why the 3X3 group is special and continues to win, being at the Olympics (especially with Katherine) and some favourite teammates along the way. And Michelle gives us a great Top 5 of all time for Canada Basketball. This is a great conversation with a great person. Much love to Michelle Plouffe for comin' in hot and joining us on Canada Hoops !
